Convivial Characters

Solo Exhibition - Rania Mesiskli - 1

Convivial Characters explores the intersection of performance and the painted image, transforming the gallery into a living theater. The exhibition was memorably introduced by Joe Franklin, the legendary "King of Nostalgia," whose presence set a timeless tone for the evening.

The collection features large-scale, whimsical works—ranging from feathered dancers to surreal circus performers—that celebrate the high-energy spectacle of identity.

The opening reception blurred these boundaries further through a live theatrical sketch performed by the artist alongside Broadway actor Stephen Diacrussi. By physically entering the narrative of her own work, the artist challenges the traditional distance between creator, subject, and viewer, inviting all to join in this vibrant, grand masquerade.
